Organic Mattress, just what is an organic mattress? The first image that comes to mind is an old mildewed mattress sitting outside with plants growing from the inside out. Living in West Virginia I see too many of these, fortunately this is not the organic mattress I speak of.
You may ask why I care what an organic mattress is. Well, I tell you why. I like to take peeks at what people are searching for and this word stuck me as a little strange.
I ran a search for “organic mattress” and I found organic mattresses are made with fabric like organic cotton, pure wool, and latex. Chemicals free which means they are not flame-retardant and pesticides are not used to spray the plants or sheep. Number 10 would be happy (referring to the Serta mattress sheep of course).
Now this may not astound you but if I were going to buy a mattress the phrase organic never would have come up.
The most important benefit of an organic mattress is it contains no harmful chemicals. Simply stated, an organic mattress is made of organic materials.
I became more curious and found that they also sell organic clothes, candles, baby items; and organic pet food and the list is much longer.
I started researching articles and what I found was startling, it would surprise you to know what is in the products you use daily. I suppose I knew all along but never paid much attention to it.
Most people are aware of the food we eat containing pesticides, have you given any thought to what’s in your drinking water, what skin care products you are using? Or what you are wearing on your body? Or the topic of this article what you are sleeping on?
You might because these products are leaching in to your pores. Many products that we use could be the substances that are linked to cancer.
To protect your health from harmful chemicals you gotta start somewhere, an organic mattress although valuable and a good night’s sleep is priceless the mattress isn’t.
If you would like to go greener for a lot less cash start first with your diet. Eat the freshest, least processed foods you can buy. Start drinking bottled water or get yourself a filter for your faucet, I drink distilled water and have for years. You’ll no doubt drop a few pounds from eating less processed foods, that’s a bonus!
After you’ve made those changes a suggestion is you move on to skin care or organic products for your home. It depends were your priorities lie.
Don’t forget about your pets they deserve the best organic products just like you do.
Remember small changes done consistently add up.
